Booking a Session
What does a session cost?
You can find details about my standard rate on the pricing page. If you have something special in mind, just ask, and I’m sure I can accommodate. I'm pretty flexible.
What is included for the cost of a session?
The price of a session includes the following things:
Consultation leading up to the session to help select the location, prepare everyone involved, and select attire.
The photo session itself.
The digital copies of the high-resolution images within three-weeks of the shoot (via an easy download). The number of images delivered depends on the length of the shoot, but I always deliver as many as I can. Most sessions include about 50-90 images.
A beautiful high-quality viewing gallery you can use to share with friends and family.
Full rights to print yourself or share images on social media (I don’t like complicated restrictions, they are your photos after-all).
How long does it take to get photos?
I try to get photos back as quick as possible. The absolute longest you might wait is three-weeks, but most clients get their photos within a week or so. I try to deliver as many photos as possible, and each photo takes time to make it perfect. It usually takes me a about 3-4 hours of work after the shoot to process each session.
What time of day is best for an outdoor portrait session?
The best light for photography is when the sun is low in the sky, which means late afternoons and early mornings. In the summer, most of my sessions start between 5-6 in the afternoon. In the spring and fall, most sessions start between 4-5 in the afternoon, and in November (after daylight savings), sessions can start at around 3PM. Sometimes we have to work around nap and bedtimes, which is no problem at all.
What is the ideal timing for a maternity session?
Everyone carries a little differently, but I usually recommend scheduling a session between 28-32 weeks. At that point, you should have a perfect little round belly to show off. If we wait too long after that, many women start to get a bit bloated and uncomfortable.
When is the ideal time to schedule a newborn session.
I usually recommend that we do newborn sessions about 2-3 weeks after birth. That should give you enough time to settle in but still be early enough to catch the newborn phase. That said, if you want to wait a little bit later, that's perfectly fine. There are really no hard-and-fast rules here. My style of newborn photography works just as well if the baby is a bit older and awake.
How do I chose a location?
It’s really up to you. What sort of feel would you like your images to have? Urban, country, farm, beach, indoor? I have tons of locations to recommend, depending on where you live and what sort of look you want.
How do I book a session?
Easy, just get in touch with me on the contact page, and we’ll work out the details.
What dates are available?
Typically, I am available all-day Saturday and Sunday, and evenings on weekdays. The sooner you can book your session the better, since my schedule sometimes get’s pretty booked up.
What happens if it rains on the day of our session?
I usually try to wait until the morning of the session to make a decision since weather forecasts are fairly inaccurate before then. Overcast days are perfect for photography because we get great even light! If it does actually rain on the date of the session, then we’ll postpone to another day that works for both of us.
Do you photograph weddings?
Unfortunately, I don’t. However, I’d be happy to recommend another great photographer to you.
Planning for a Session
What should I wear for my session?
The simple answer is to wear whatever you think you look best in! The longer answer is to read this article I wrote on the topic (I promise it's worth the read).

How do I get my child to cooperate?
This answer got a little long, so I turned it into a blog post. See the article here.
After the Session
Can I share the photos from the session online?
Please do! If you would like to tag Randy Klein Photography (on either Instagram or Facebook), I would be forever grateful!
Do I have to print photos through Randy Klein Photography?
Absolutely not! You are already paying for the shoot, I don’t think it’s right to make you pay a second time. I can even recommend an reasonably-priced professional-quality printer. If you would like to make things easy and order ultra-high quality prints directly from me, you can do that right from your photo gallery. You’ll get a coupon along with the photo delivery.
Where should I print my photos?
You can purchase prints right from your photo gallery for fast, ultra high-quality prints. If you would like to print yourself, you can certainly download them and use your own printer. Take a look at this blog post For specific printer recommendations (and some other thoughts on the topic).
Where should I print my postcards / holiday cards?
I recommend a printer named Basic Invite. They have an easy to use website, nice modern postcard designs, and have some great options, like envelope addressing. Best of all, they give me a 30% off coupon to extend to my clients. To get the 30% discount, use coupon code “randyklein” during checkout. Another great option is Minted, but they are a bit on the expensive side.
